Congratulations and Thank You to China for the Wonderful 2008 Beijing Olympic Game 

Dear ... China family,

Words cannot adequately describe how I felt during these China Olympic Games.  What a wonderful, unbelievable, unforgettable and amazing 2008 Beijing Olympic Games we have witnessed here over the past 16 days.   

When I arrived in China in 1988 as a graduate student, I fell in love with this City of Beijing, whose people welcomed me with open arms.  Twenty years later, during these Olympic Games, I fell in love with Beijing all over again, as I witnessed a new, transformed and modern Beijing emerge.  It has been a privilege to witness such profound and positive changes in my second home.

China has, with its flawless event organization, gorgeous Opening and Closing Ceremonies, tremendous performance of its Chinese athletes, and most of all, superbly genuine and warm hospitality of the Chinese people, set a standard of excellence which will be difficult for others to equal in the future.

 I and my family are personally very sad to see these Games come to an end. But we are also so proud and pleased to see what China has accomplished with these Games.  The Closing Ceremony was held yesterday, and it was, like the Opening Ceremony, gorgeous, incredible, and amazing.   My parents and I were privileged to attend the Ceremony at the Bird’s Nest, and I can tell you, we had all of you in our hearts as we watched the wonderful spectacle under a beautiful Beijing sky.

Although these 29^th Olympic Games have now been placed into the history of the world and of China, the spirit of friendship, harmony and peace created during these Games will continue around the world forever. 

All the visiting foreigners, with whom I spoke, felt the same.  The world is grateful and thankful for the hard work and preparation of China and the Chinese people.  Perhaps even more memorable even than the Games themselves was the genuine warmth and hospitality and pride which the Chinese people showed to the foreign visitors who came to share this moment.

These Games had 204 participating countries, and 87 countries won medals, both achievements are more than any Olympic Games in history.   

The performance of the Chinese team was simply incredible with an amazing 51`Golds and 100 Medals.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  With great stars such as Guo Jingjing, and Zhang Xiaoping (who I watched win the gold in 81kg Boxing), everyone knows that China will continue to excel in London and beyond.

As an American brand, Super 8 is proud to be a good citizen in China, and profoundly grateful to China for giving the world a truly wonderful gift.  We are also proud of the American team and athletes such as Michael Phelps for their great achievements.
